BIO FOR MIKE FEKETE

Mike Fekete, has operated KayakSportCanada for many years, assisting fellow athletes in accessing the World's best quality sports products for their specific requirements.

Fekete is a certified sprint kayak/canoe coach, physical therapist, rehab specialist, strength & conditioning specialist and personal trainer. He studied Physical Education and Physical Therapy both Hungary and Canada.

Mike was volunteer Head Coach of the Toronto Island CC and published several articles and books on training in various sport/fitness related publications. He was on the Certification Board of the YMCA's Strength Trainers Certification Board, he is a member of and certified by the American Council on Exercise and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

 
His numerous International athletic achievements include:

2 gold, 5 silver and five bronze medals in kayaking at the World Master Games in Portland, Oregon in 1998

First Place, Masters at the DiamondMan Quadrathlon Long-Distance Worlds in Ibiza Spain (5k swim, 20k kayak, 100k bike, 21k run) 1998 &1999

First Place, Masters (8th overall) at the Extreme Quadrathlon Worlds (10k swim, 40k kayak, 200k bike, 42k run) in Courpiere, France, 2000

His many recognitions and contributions towards athletic events include:

Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to Ontario Sports Program from the Province (Canada)

Wai Nui Award from the Wai Nui Outrigger Club for his contribution to the clubs fleet and especially for its program aimed at the handicapped and disadvantaged

An award and NYA:WEH from the Community of Six Nations and the Aka:we Canoe Club for the donation of an entire fleet of boats

Donated boats to almost every canoe club in Ontario (Rideau, Sydenham, Toronto Island, Burloak, Collingwood, Sudbury, in fact besides racing boats, an entire fleet of mini K1s and mini K2s were donated to kids' program of the Sudbury CC.

A major contributor to the Paddle All Program all over Canada, helping handicapped athletes with boats and paddles and donated several C1s and C2 to WomanCan championed by Sheila Kuyper.
